This program combines a virtual consultation for guidance on choosing a puppy, breed, or breeder, plus two 90-minute in-person sessions. You’ll receive tailored resources, hands-on coaching, and ongoing guidance for a smooth and successful start.

Many families spend thousands of dollars on puppies from poor-quality breeders, only to face genetic health issues or unstable temperaments. For the same investment, you can find a responsible breeder who prioritizes:

  • Comprehensive health testing on parents (beyond a basic vet check, e.g. OFA hip/elbow x-rays, DNA tests for hereditary diseases, breed club recommended screenings, etc.)

  • Relevant titles in sports and/or conformation to prove the parents are stellar examples of the breed

  • Proper early socialization, enrichment, and training for confident, stable puppies

My role is to help you recognize the difference, ensuring your money goes toward a healthy, well-bred puppy who gives you the best possible head start.

Session 1: Pre-puppy preparation

A 90-minute in-home session covering everything you need to set your puppy up for success:

  • Home setup (crate placement, safe zones, potty areas, etc.)

  • Socialization blueprint for the critical socialization window (ends at 16 weeks)

  • Crate training for safety, structure, and smoother routines

  • Desensitization for comfortable grooming, handling, and stress-free veterinary examinations

  • Housebreaking plan tailored to your household

  • Establishing good habits before bad ones take hold

  • Managing puppy behaviors like biting, chewing, and jumping

  • Proven equipment and supply recommendations so you avoid trial-and-error purchases

  • Training foundations: markers, rewards, timing, and leash handling basics

  • Nutritional guidance to support your puppy’s growth with balanced nutrition and while still being able to reinforce training with yummy incentives

Session 2: Puppy Progress Check-In

Held 2–3 weeks after your puppy comes home, this 90-minute session ensures you’re on track and sets the stage for long-term success. It can take place in your home or at a public location for structured socialization.

We’ll:

  • Review your progress so far, evaluate what’s working and where adjustments are needed

  • Refine your handling and communication techniques with real-time coaching on timing, cues, and reward placement

  • Introduce basic obedience cues (e.g. sit, down, stay, recall) to build your puppy’s skills

  • Begin training leash manners for a lifetime of pleasant walks

Beyond the Sessions

  • Custom Resources: Post-session PDF with homework, supply links, and training reminders.

  • On-Demand Support: Call, text, or email check-ins between sessions for covered topics. (New issues or advanced training will be scheduled for future sessions.)

  • Optional Video Feedback: Send a short clip for tailored advice.

  • Nutrition Guidance: As a clinical pet nutritionist, I recommend food, treats, and feeding plans to support both health and training success.
