Frequently Asked Questions

How do package discounts work?

Clients must purchase and complete at least one in-person session before purchasing a package. This is to ensure we are a good fit and will work well together. At the end of the training session, if we are a good fit for each other, we can discuss package options. Packages must be paid for in full upfront to receive a package discount.

When can I schedule a session?

Until December 10, 2024 session start times are as follows:

  • Tuesday - Thursday 8am or 3pm - 5pm

  • Friday and Saturday 9am to 5pm

What is the frequency of the sessions?

Sessions are typically held weekly or bi-weekly. It’s important to have enough time between sessions to implement the training and see if any modifications need to be made to the training plan. In some cases, it is appropriate to meet every few weeks or once a month.

How long are the sessions?

The initial training session is 2 hours, all following sessions are 1 to 1.5 hours.

Where are sessions held?

Sessions may be held at the client’s home or in another public location. If we are focusing on changing a dog’s behavior in a particular setting, we may also meet at a park, dog-friendly store, hiking trail, etc.

Can the whole family participate in training sessions?

Absolutely! I encourage all family members, especially those who will regularly care for and work with the dog, such as relatives who petsit, to participate in the training sessions. This ensures that the training guidelines are clearly understood by everyone and remain consistent for the dog. I’m happy to break down the training steps into simpler terms to ensure children can follow along and participate effectively. The initial session, in particular, involves a lot of discussion, which might be less engaging for younger children. It can be helpful to keep children occupied with other activities until we are ready for them to participate in the hands-on training.

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?

If more than 24 hours' notice is provided, we can simply reschedule for no additional charge. "No-shows" or canceled sessions with less than 24 hours' notice will result in the forfeiture of the session (no refunds, no rescheduling). Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis.

What happens if there is inclement weather?

Sessions may be rescheduled without requiring 24 hours' notice in cases of inclement weather conditions such as snow, rain, temperatures below freezing, or above 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
